Abstract
This study was performed to evaluate the effects of nursing ethics education on biomedical ethics awareness, moral sensitivity, and moral judgment of nursing students, and to find ways to improve nursing ethics education. Participants were 117 undergraduate nursing students in two universities, assigned to an experimental group (65 students) and a control group (52 students). A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design with repeated measures was used. 12 weeks after the nursing ethics education, the experimental group reported significantly higher scores of biomedical ethics awareness, moral sensitivity, and P scores of moral judgment than the control group. On the contrary, no statistically significant differences were found in the 4 stage scores of moral judgment. Therefore, in further study, it is necessary to develop various indicators and teaching methods for evaluating the effects of nursing ethics education.
